 The organisation of the V Biennial Exhibition of “Waste Art”, which will be held on 2 June 2007 (Parque de Ribalta, Castellón, Spain), hereby establishes the terms and conditions to be fulfilled by the projects presented, so that they convey the original spirit of the “WASTE ART” plastic event. From this biennial exhibition onwards, equality and non-discrimination between women and men, together with respect for the environment and peace, will be the values of this event.
TERMS 1- Works must convey the values that represent the spirit of the biennial exhibition: equality between women and men, ecology and peace.
2- Works must be made from waste materials (wood, iron, plastic, cardboard, etc.). At least 85% of all materials used must fall into this category. 3- Each artist must present a project of the work to be created (which will not be returned to the artist). The project must include: - Scale model or sketch, indicating the scale in order to know its final dimensions.> - List of the materials to be used, including their origin and use in the work, as well as a detailed specification of the process and/or production process. Natural resources of the park shall not be used. - Assessment of the financial cost of the project (materials, transport, tools, necessary collaboration, etc.). - Suggestions regarding the final destination of the work (natural deterioration, immediate dismantling, collocation in a physical space to last, etc.). 4- Projects must be presented before 1 pm on 30 March 2007 at the headquarters of the Dávalos-Fletcher Foundation (C/ Gasset, n. 5, Castellón de la Plana, Spain). 5- The projects will be assessed by a committee appointed by the organisation. The assessment committee will be made up of a member of each collaborating institution and of the appropriate individuals appointed by the organisation. This committee will accept or reject the projects taking into account, among others, the following criteria: - Faithfulness to the concept of waste art. - Observance of the values represented by the spirit of the exhibition. - Artistic quality. - Feasibility of the project being carried out in ten hours maximum (only one day). - Author’s suggestions and its feasibility of the project being applied. 6- The assessment committee may contact the author(s) if any questions arise, with the objective of obtaining the needed information. 7- This committee undertakes to present its decision before 20 April 2007. 8- After acceptance of the project by the committee, the organisation will send the artist(s) a document of acceptance and commitment by the two parties to formalise their participation so that the organisation can coordinate all the activities related to the event. The organisation accepts no liability for any damage to the works while they are in the exhibition. 9- Within a period of nine months after the V Biennial Exhibition of Waste Art, a catalogue containing all the works included in the event will be published. 10- Prior to the celebration of the V Biennial Exhibition, the organis ation will appoint a number of professional art critics equal to the number of works to be created, who will provide a review to be included in the catalogue. 11- Participation in this edition implies the acceptance of these terms. 12- Artists with a relevant professional career, involvement and/or reputation who may contribute to the furtherance of this event are welcome to participate. |
